Spring is here, and graduation and grade level promotion are on the horizon for CfY students! This month, CfY partnered with YouthForce, a job readiness program facilitated by Boys & Girls Club of King County, to deliver job readiness workshops to students and mentors as they navigate critical next steps.

Sigrid Batara, YouthForce Executive Director, and Kamaladene Aly, YouthForce Case Manager, hosted two back-to-back workshops over the course of two weeks at Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club.

During the first week, YouthForce tackled workplace conduct, communication, and resume writing, and provided questions and activities to facilitate discussion between students and mentors. The second week centered on higher education and career exploration after high school, and included resources for researching colleges and vocational/trade schools, and guidance on the ins and outs of requesting financial aid for higher education.

CfY students had no shortage of questions when it came to topics such as social media conduct, professional emails, and college application essays, and mentors provided guidance and advice based on their own experiences.

Crucial decisions are coming up quickly for our students, and job readiness workshops are a great first step to answering questions and getting students thinking about entering the workforce!

CfY is immensely grateful to YouthForce for leading engaging and informative presentations, and to Boys & Girls Club of King County for providing a space for this month’s workshops! Thank you for investing in our youth and in our community.

April is “Beyond High School” month. Stay in the loop, and check out our Official Blog to read about all of the awesome things going on here at CfY!
