Become A Board Member
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Board is legally and financially responsible for overseeing all activities of Community for Youth.
The Board ensures and secures adequate resources for the organization so that it can fulfill its mission.
The Board enhances Community for Youth's public standing by being ambassadors in the community articulating the organization's mission and goals to the public.
The Board sets the policies that ensure that Community for Youth runs effectively, has ethical integrity and maintains accountability.
The Board works with the staff to set long-range goals for Community for Youth's growth and development.
The Board actively participates in an overall planning process and assists in implementing and monitoring the plan's goals.
The Board recruits and orients new board members and assesses the Board's performance.
All Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings, held on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. In addition, each board member participates on a board committee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience such as fund development, finance, marketing, human resources, program development, or legal
Strong interest in the agency's mission and goals
The ability to promote Community for Youth's profile in the community
TIME COMMITMENT:
About six to eight hours per month:
2 hours for the regular monthly Board meeting
2-3 hours for committee work
1-3 hours for special requests and fundraising
OBLIGATIONS:
Give
Make a personally significant contribution.
Funders are interested in the Board's dedication to the organization. 100% participation demonstrates the Board's commitment to the organization. It is more justifiable for you to ask someone else to provide financial support when you are leading the way.
Solicit
Participate in fundraising.
Each Board member will be asked to host a table at our annual Wine Tasting Party in January and our breakfast in May.
Develop
Pursue sources of long-term funding.
Be an ambassador to the community for Community for Youth.
Participate
Attend and support all fundraising projects.
Volunteer your time and energy for special projects.
Share and pursue contacts and resources
Make an in-kind donation
